Please watch this powerful video about the Nile flowing through Egypt, which is a nation of 100 million inhabitants that are totally dependent on the water that flows through their historic nation, giving life and fertility.
When I visited Cairo for five days last month, my hotel was on the Nile. I learned a great deal about Egypt´s utter dependence on the Nile. I even talked with leaders of Sudan, which has much the same situation as Egypt.
Because of a dam being constructed by Ethiopia, more than 40 million Egyptians are facing the threat of drought and thirst, due to the threat of reducing the water of their lifeline.
Although I love Ethiopia, their new dam project is five times bigger than its needs. Ethiopia intends to store 74 billion cubic meter of water, which means reducing Egypt´s shares of water by 20 billion cubic meters. The same is also happening with neighboring Sudan.
Egypt has the right to live. So does Sudan.
This is not primarily a political issue, but it is a massive violation of the human rights of nations: Egypt and Sudan!
